Product description
This sword takes its name from its red-brown lacquered scabbard (saya), where the texture of the wood is still visible. Use it for iaito practice.
The blunt blade is handmade from 420 stainless steel in the Shinogi-Zukuri style with a fuller (Bo-Hi). A rye hide wrap covers the grip, finished with black cotton in the Hineri-Maki style. Two bamboo pins (mekugi) lock the long tang construction to the grip, so you can replace the grip completely. The habaki and seppa, sitting between the tsuba and blade, are made from brass. The tsuba (hand guard), fuchi (ring on top of the tsuba), menuki (grip decoration), and kashira (pommel) are made from metal.
The iaito measures 106,5 cm overall, with a 75,5 cm blade and a 30,5 cm grip. Weight is 1100 g excluding the scabbard.
Includes a textile sleeve, a collector's box, and a certificate.
