Product description
This dagger is a replica of an original from the 1st century AD found in Pompeii. Roman soldiers used pugiones like this all across the Roman Empire, but they were not part of the standard legionary's equipment. Soldiers most likely bought them as personal property.
Made from carbon steel, this pugio features the typical shape associated with the period of Emperor Augustus, 1st century AD and 2nd half of the 2nd century AD. It comes with an iron scabbard based on an original found in the Rhineland. The pugio measures 34.5 cm long, with a 22 cm blade, and weighs 700 grams.
