Product description
The Pickelhaube is a Prussian helmet designed in 1842 by Frederick William IV of Prussia. After his son William became emperor of the German Empire, the German military, firemen, and police adopted it. It is best known as the German helmet of World War I.
This pickelhaube is based on originals made from 1889 onward. During this period, the Prussian infantry ranked among the best army units in the world. Many pickelhaubes are made from steel and brass, but this specific type is made from leather, which reduced the weight significantly. The helmet features an inscription in Old German (Mit Gott für Koening und Vaterland).
