Product description
Just one praying mantis survives the nest. This mantis is the best and has overcome all others. The praying mantis symbolizes slyness and power in Japanese culture. It also plays an essential role in Japanese mythology and in making katanas.
Made by CAS Hanwei, this katana features an L6/Bainite blade crafted in the Shobu Zukuri with Bo-Hi. The Praying Mantis katana is a unique, fully functional handmade katana. In the grip, the green silk ito and brown saya create a striking contrast with the gold-copper fuchi, tsuba, and kashira.
The handmade carbon steel blade combines power and flexibility. It is known for an excellent edge that only a handful of master smiths can produce. During the grip-making process, precise heating is critical — it divides the blade into a Bainite body (and back) with a highly hardened Martensite Yakiba (cutting edge).
This katana measures 104 cm overall, with a 74 cm blade and a 28 cm grip. It weighs about 1,134 grams.
This very rare katana cannot be returned after purchase.
