Recommended combination
Product description
These spaulders are based on originals in use from the 14th century onward. Combine them easily with armor pieces from the Churburg or Avant styles — spaulders like these were also common in late-Gothic armor. Spaulders are narrow shoulder pieces that attach to a gambeson, chainmail hauberk, or gorget. They differ from pauldrons, which are wider and also cover parts of the armpit.
Soldiers across Late Medieval Europe wore shoulder pieces like these. These pauldrons feature rondels — small discs that protect the gap between the armpit and other armor components. Leather straps let you attach them easily to a gorget or bevor.
