Product description
This relief is based on a depiction from the Mithras cult, modeled after a Mithras altar piece from Aalen. Today, the original is part of the collection of the slate museum in Aalen.
Mithras was a religion that presumably originated in Persia. The scene shows the slaughter of a bull. Mithras wears a Roman tunic. As he kills the bull, he turns away his face — just as Perseus turns away when killing Medusa.
Made from plaster alabaster, this relief measures 15 x 12.5 cm. A hook on the back lets you hang it on a wall.
