This chestplate is based on fifteenth-century historical originals found in paintings and murals by Italian masters, such as Piero della Francesca, who depicted a high quantity of similar armor pieces. Infantrymen wore chestplates like this from the second half of the fifteenth century through the sixteenth century. This type of armor was made in Italy and sold to other European countries as well. Typical of the Milanese style is the overlapping and beveled plate over the chest, designed to deflect attacks. The cuirass protects the chest and abdomen. Leather straps let you adjust the fit, and different attachment points accommodate other armor pieces. Comes with a fully compatible backplate included.
