Product description
These couters are modeled after several late 15th- to early 16th-century originals, crafted in the Milanese style.
Full suits of armor began appearing in northern Italy in the early 15th century. Known as Milanese armor, this style spread across Europe and was not regionally confined. Milanese armor is characterized by large, rounded, undecorated plates. Typical helmets worn with this armor included the sallet, armet, and barbute. Beneath Milanese armor, soldiers typically wore a full chainmail hauberk. Milanese armor components could be worn as a complete suit or as individual pieces.
Made from 2 mm thick steel, the couters consist of five segments. Fasten and adjust them using two straps. Two heart-shaped rondels protect the inner sides of the arms. Each couter measures 11.5 cm in diameter and 28 cm in length.
