Product description
Roman legionaries wore the lorica segmentata from the 2nd century AD. This type of armor plate used iron strips attached to the inner side on a leather strap. This reconstruction is based on a lorica segmentata from the late 1st century AD, found in Newstead, Scotland. The main difference between this type and its predecessors is that the Newstead lorica used fewer — but larger — plates.
The reconstruction fits a chest circumference up to 112 cm, including an optional gambeson (subarmalis). Made from 1.3 mm thick steel and ornamented with brass, it weighs about 9.2 kg.
