Product description
Shiro (white) carries deep symbolic meaning in Japanese culture — representing purity and sanctity, but also mourning and death. Samurai wore white beneath their armor to symbolize their readiness to die in battle.
This katana measures 101.5 cm overall, with a 72 cm blade and a 29 cm grip (tsuka). It weighs 1050 g. The blade is hand-forged from 1045 carbon steel in the Shinogi-Zukuri style, and features a sharp edge with a decorative temper line (hamon) for a striking appearance.
The grip wrapping is made from white cotton in the classical Hineri-Maki style, underlaid with genuine shagreen. The wooden scabbard is finished in white high-polish lacquer. A long tang (nakago) locks the blade securely into the grip with two bamboo pins (mekugi). The sword ships with a John Lee protective cover.
John Lee's models draw inspiration from historical originals and are built to a high standard. No plastics are used — only authentic materials like metal, brass, wood, and shagreen. Every John Lee weapon comes with a seal and a certificate of authenticity.
