Miyamoto Musashi was one of the most highly respected Samurai in Japanese history. He lived from 1584 until 1645 and was said to be the greatest sword fighter in all of Japan. He was not only a fighter but also an artist and a craftsman. He developed his own combat style, still known today as Niten Ichi Ry?. This style uses both shortswords and long swords at the same time.
This tanto measures 41 cm overall, with a 14 cm grip (tsuka) and a 26.5 cm blade. It weighs 500 g. The blade is made from Shinogi-Zukuri steel with a fuller. The grip wrapping is made from black cotton in the classical Hineri-Maki style, and the katana comes with a black lacquered scabbard (Kuroro style). A striking collector's box is included.
