Product description
Ishikawa Goemon (16th century – August 10, 1594) was a Japanese folklore hero much like England's Robin Hood — stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. In modern Japan, countless myths still surround Ishikawa Goemon.
The grip of the John Lee Goemon Katana depicts this folklore directly. The tsuba shows Goemon himself along with the date of his execution. The grip is elaborately decorated and hand-painted, then wrapped with shagreen and rough woven cotton. The tsuba is hand-painted as well.
The blade is made from 9260 carbon steel at 55 HRC hardness, with a razor-sharp edge.
The katana is 103 cm long with a 74.5 cm blade and a 29 cm grip. It weighs about 1,150 grams.
