Product description
The dragon still plays an important role in Japan, especially around the New Year. This mythological creature appears in many Japanese myths and stories. The dragon katana is crafted in the mystical character.
The tsuba features a stylized dragon shape. Chiseled scales run through the grip. The grip itself is made in the classical Hineri-Maki style and wrapped with shagreen and rough woven cotton.
The blade is made in the Shinogi-Zukuri style with a Hohlkehle (Bo-Hi) groove and forged from 1045–1055 carbon steel with a 52–55 HRC hardness. The sharp blade is finished with a Hamon layer.
The grip is fastened to the tang (Nakago) with two bamboo stifts (mekugi).
This katana measures 103 cm overall, with a 72 cm blade and a 30.5 cm grip. It weighs about 1000 grams and comes with a wooden scabbard.
