Product description
The gladius is the weapon that enabled Roman legionaries to conquer much of the world. Several types of gladii exist, each named after the place where it was most commonly used. This gladius is the Mainz type — a double-edged sword built primarily for stabbing. Mainz-type scabbards were fully reinforced with metal fittings, as you can see on this replica's scabbard. This luxurious gladius is a great addition to any collection of classical swords. It features a wooden hilt. The steel scabbard has brass fittings decorated with imperial depictions and iconography. Both Emperor Augustus and Emperor Tiberius are depicted. The laurel — a symbol of victory — appears as well. The round brass fitting showing Augustus is surrounded by a laurel wreath. Steel rings on the scabbard let you wear it on your belt.
