This historical green cup is made from orchery clay and replicates designs based on archaeological finds. Authentically handmade on the potter's wheel, it features a green-glazed edge that is safe for consumption and dishwasher use. It measures 4 cm in diameter and stands 5 cm tall.
Greenware is pottery with a green glazed layer covering the complete surface or parts of it. Potters were already using this style around the 13th century, mainly on the British Isles. By the 14th century, 10 to 20% of all pottery used in London was greenware. On mainland Europe, greenware grew in popularity from the 15th century onward.
