Product description
This cup is handmade on the potter's wheel. Based on a 16th-century original excavated in Germany, it holds 0.25L and measures 11 cm tall with an 8 cm diameter. Made from ochery clay and hand-glazed, its green color was fashionable in the 16th century.
Greenware is pottery with a green glazed layer covering the full surface or parts of it. Potters were already producing this style around the 13th century, mainly on the British Isles. By the 14th century, greenware made up 10 to 20% of all pottery used in London. On mainland Europe, its popularity grew from the 15th century onward.
