The hangeroc is a type of dress worn by Vikings and other early medieval people over a slip dress. Originally, it was paired with turtle brooches to fasten the front to the shoulders. The shoulder section was often much longer, and shield brooches were used to lift the front fabric just above the breasts. Most modern hangeroc reproductions are already the correct length, so turtle brooches aren't needed for practical purposes. You can still wear them as decoration, or use them to lift up the front of the hangeroc to your liking. Between the shield brooches, women wore strands of colored beads. A belt worn over the hangeroc added shape to the garment and came in handy for hanging a key, a pouch, a knife, and more. This hangeroc is open at the front. Fasten it with the cotton laces at the front — you can also use them to dial in a tighter fit.
