This axe blade is modelled on several originals excavated in Opphus, Vang, Hedemark, Dublin, Waterford, and Wexford. Blades of this type were presumably developed around the 9th century.
Hand-forged from a single piece of steel, the blade measures 165 mm in length with a max. width of 110 mm and an eye of 35 x 25 mm. It features a single sharp edge.
This axe blade is a Petersen type G.
