Product description
The gladius is the weapon that enabled Roman legionaries to conquer much of the world. Different types of gladii exist, each named after their place of origin. This gladius is the Mainz type — the first originals were found in the German city of Mainz. It is a double-edged sword designed primarily for stabbing.
This luxurious gladius is a prized addition for collectors of classical weapons and Roman re-enactors alike. It draws not from a single original gladius, but from multiple originals dating to the first century AD. The blade is made from EN45 steel, with a hilt of bone and wood and a screwed pommel. It comes with a beautiful red leather scabbard decorated with several brass fittings, including a palmette — an ornament shaped like stylized palm leaves used since the second millennium BC. Brass rings on the scabbard let you hang it from your belt.
