Product description
This early Viking helmet draws inspiration from a 7th–8th century Germanic helmet found in Vendel, Sweden. It now belongs to the collection of the Swedish Museum of National Antiquities. Germanic tribes like the Anglo-Saxons wore helmets of this type, and the Vikings later adopted them as well. Consider it a predecessor to the famous 10th-century Gjermundbu helmet, discovered in a Viking grave in Norway. The helmet comes equipped with an inlay and chin strap. It measures 29.2×21 cm. The inner diameter of the helmet bowl is 68 cm, measured without the inlay. The eye protectors are 16.5 cm wide, the nose piece is 12.5 cm long, and the eye slits measure 6.6×3.1 cm. A leather strap and steel buckle closure keep the helmet securely in place. Need more room inside? Remove the helmet insert to create extra space.
