This beard comb is based on various 2nd–10th century originals. One of the originals is now part of the collection of the National History Museum in Berlin. Germanic auxiliae introduced combs like this throughout the Roman Empire. Combs like this stayed in use well into the 10th century. It was used primarily to comb the beard.
