Recommended combination
Product description
These spaulders are based on originals used from the 14th century onward. Combine them easily with armor pieces in the Churburg style or Avant style — even in late-Gothic armor, spaulders like these remained in common use. Spaulders are narrow shoulder pieces that attach to a gambeson, mail hauberk, or gorget. They differ from pauldrons: pauldrons are broader and also protect parts of the armpit.
Armor pieces like pauldrons were hugely popular from the second half of the 14th century through the second half of the 16th century. Wear these shoulder pieces as part of a full suit of armor or on their own. Fasten them to a gambeson or chainmail hauberk using laces.
