Product description

A voulge is a type of polearm primarily used in 15th-century France.

The voulge typically had a narrow, single-edged blade, sometimes with an additional cutting edge on the back. The blade fit into a socket on a shaft. Many examples featured reinforcements on the shaft called langets, along with a round hand guard at the base of the blade. Soldiers who used this weapon were called voulgiers. French archers carried the voulge, and it also appears in 15th-century artworks and manuscripts.
