This sword is a replica of original examples from the first half of the 10th century, classified as a Petersen Type P. When these swords were in use, the Vikings were establishing permanent settlements in northern England, founding the Danelaw. It was a period of major Viking expansion. During this time, the Vikings founded Dublin and other settlements around the Irish Sea. In 872 AD, Harald Fairhair unified Norway. Between 958 and 987 AD, Harald Bluetooth united Denmark. Both kingdoms were organized after the model of the Franks and Anglo-Saxons.Product details
