This gladius is a replica of an original from the 1st century AD. It features a Pompeii-type blade, named after an original excavated in the historic city of Pompeii. The grip is made from wood and bone. The blade is made from EN45 carbon steel. Soldiers used gladii like this until the 3rd century AD, making it the most common type of gladius.
