Product description
This is a replica of a 4th-century cavalry helmet found in Deurne, The Netherlands. Germanic auxiliae likely wore it during the Late Roman period. A Roman coin found beside the helmet dates to 319 AD. The helmet shows strong Germanic and even Persian influences — it was probably the helmet of a Germanic aristocrat.
Made from brass and lined with red leather, it features a short neck plate, a nose piece, and two cheek plates. Stylized motifs drawn from Northern European design of the period decorate the surface. The Deurne helmet fits head circumferences up to 61 cm and weighs about 3 kg.
