Product description
This cuirass is based on the well-known late 14th-century armor from the collection of Churburg Castle. Armor components in this style were used across Europe from the late 14th to the early 15th century. This armor style clearly represents a transition from the early 14th-century coat of plates to full plate armor. In the early 14th century, plate armor first emerged as reinforcement over the hauberk, with separate armor pieces worn on top. With the introduction of the Churburg style, plate armor became the primary form of body protection.
Pair this cuirass with bascinets such as the pig-faced bascinet or the hinged-visor bascinet — the kettle hat remained popular as well. By this period, full arm and leg armor was already in use, with a preference for hourglass gauntlets or demi-gauntlets. Wear a chainmail haubergeon underneath for added protection.
Made from several steel sheets fastened together with leather pieces, this cuirass adjusts easily to fit your size. Wear it over gambesons and hauberks as needed.
