The Cinqueda emerged in the late 15th and early 16th century during the Italian Renaissance. These daggers were likely derived from the Greco-Roman parazonium. The Cinqueda was clearly influenced by the Italian al antica style — visible in helmets such as the barbute, burgonet, and closed helmets of the period. During this time, even the classical musculata and subarmalis saw revival, with armor modeled after examples from classical antiquity. Originally a symbol of divine power, the parazonium carried deep significance — and the bearers of the Cinqueda were likely well aware of this.
This Cold Steel Cinqueda replicates an elegant 16th-century design, backed by Cold Steel's high-quality craftsmanship. In Renaissance Italy, the Cinqueda served primarily as a parade weapon. Yet it was also a formidable weapon in the narrow streets and alleys of Italy. Often richly decorated, families treasured it as an heirloom passed down through generations.
