Eustace fitz John was a mighty Norman magnate from the north of Anglo-Norman England. He served under the English kings Henry I, Stephen, and Henry II. In 1135, he was closely involved in the war against the Scottish king David I. This coin depicts Eustace in his full armor. He wears a nasal helmet, hauberk, and a sword (presumably Oakeshott type XI). The back of the coin features a cross and a quatrefoil. Made from leadless pewter.
