Product description
The chainmail coif dates back to at least the 11th century AD. Wear it on its own or beneath a helmet. Many depictions, including those in the Morgan Bible from 1250, show the coif fitting snugly around the head. Leather laces at the top helped improve the fit, while additional laces could fasten the lower edge to the gambeson or hauberk to keep it securely in place. For added comfort, wear a textile cap or arming cap underneath.
Made from 1,6 mm thick untreated round rings with an inner diameter of 8 mm, woven in a four-in-one pattern and riveted with round rivets. The coif features a triangular visor that protects the chin, mouth, and nose. The visor is covered with leather on the inside. It weighs about 3,6 kg.
