Product description
This cuirass is based on the S18 cuirass from the Churburg Armory. Made between 1370 and 1410, likely in Milan, it belonged to the Von Matsch family.
Built in the Milanese style, this type of cuirass was produced from the early 15th century. You can see examples in pieces such as the famous Avant armor. This style was worn throughout Europe and was not region-specific. Milanese armor is characterized by large, rounded, unadorned plates. Common helmets worn with it included the sallet, armet, and barbute.
Wear a full chainmail haubergeon under Milanese armor. While Milanese armor components were often worn as a complete suit, you can also use individual pieces separately. The faulds (the lamellar plates at the bottom) attach with leather straps and are removable. The V-shaped plates on the chest provide additional protection against upward strikes aimed at the face.
Made from 1.6 mm thick steel, the cuirass features four segments. It fits a maximum chest circumference of 120 cm, including gambeson.
