Product description
The chaperon was a popular piece of clothing throughout the High Middle Ages. It protects the head, neck, and shoulders from cold weather and rain. People of all classes wore them, often decorated and in bright colors. By the Late Middle Ages, their use was limited to commoners, who began wearing them in new ways. The liripipe, for example, once hung from the back — later, people wrapped it around the neck.
