A shoulder piece of this type was also called a pixane. Pixanes were sewn to the gambeson and typically worn under the suit of armor, protecting the wearer at the exposed areas of the armor.
Made from round chain mail rings with an inner diameter of 8 mm, the rings are woven in a four-in-one pattern and butted. The shoulder piece measures 36 x 14 cm with a neck opening of 15 x 14 cm. It weighs about 1 kg.
