Chainmail coif, spring steel, butted round rings, 9 mm

Product description

The chainmail coif dates back to at least the 11th century AD. Wear it on its own or beneath a helmet. Many depictions, such as those in the Morgan Bible from 1250, show the coif fitting snugly around the head. Leather laces at the top improve the fit, while additional laces fasten the lower edge to the gambeson or hauberk to keep the coif securely in place. For added comfort, wear a textile cap or arming cap underneath.

Made from butted round rings of spring steel woven in a 4:1 construction, this coif fits all head circumferences. The rings have an inner diameter of 9 mm.
