This jewel is a replica of a 1st century Roman fibula worn by Gaulish legionaries. Excavated in South England, it is now part of the British Museum collection in London.

The Romans used this jewel — presumably Roman legionaries from Gaul. The fibula is clearly made in the Celtic La Tène art style. Similar originals have been excavated in Gaul and were worn by the Gaulish. This motif originated with the Gauls and was later adopted by the Romans.

This brass pendant is shaped like a stylized sea horse. These shapes appear frequently in Celtic pottery and engravings from the Middle La Tène period.
It measures 5.5 x 5 cm.
