Product description
The sabre is an evolution of the European backsword — a straight, single-edged sword with a basket hilt. It typically features a slightly curved blade and a large knuckle-guard. Cavalry sabres, however, were straight and double-edged. Originally a 10th-century Hungarian cavalry weapon, the sabre reached its peak during the 19th century in the Napoleonic Wars and the American Civil War.
This British sabre comes with a steel scabbard. It measures 109 cm in total length, with a 94 cm blade and a maximum width of 3 cm. It weighs about 1.5 kg. Developed in 1827, the design is still in use today after several adjustments.
