The 1908 cavalry sword was the last service sword issued as standard to the British Army's cavalry forces — at a time when mounted charges were largely obsolete and swords saw little use as combat weapons. Still, it was widely regarded as the best cavalry sword ever designed, and soldiers carried it into World War I. The 1908 model and the more refined 1912 officer model still serve as the ceremonial sword of the British, Australian, and Canadian cavalry regiments. While this lightweight sword could still deliver effective blows, it was clearly designed primarily for stabbing from horseback and could reportedly reach the reach of a lance when held at full arm's length. The basket offered excellent hand protection, and the pommel balanced the saber. The ergonomic pistol-style handle gave a firm, comfortable grip and automatically positioned the point. Nimble, light, and fast. Attach it to a saddle, belt, or bandolier for easy transport. This replica features a blade made from EN45 spring steel and comes with a black steel scabbard with carrying rings.
