Product description
This small Viking fibula is based on a 9th-century original excavated in Smolensk. Today it is part of the collection of the Historical Museum in Moscow. The Franks originally wore trifold fibulae like this as decorations on their scabbards and shields. The Vikings acquired them through plundering and adopted the tradition — but used them as fibulae rather than decorations. Both men and women wore these fibulae. This replica is made in the Borre style.
