Product description
This bag replicates a 9th-century original excavated in the Viking town of Birka. Vikings and other early medieval people across North and Central Europe wore bags like this one. Made from leather, it measures 18 x 23 cm and closes with a strap. The bag is decorated with motifs in the Magyar art style, just like the original. The Magyars were a nomadic people who invaded Europe during the 9th century AD and settled in Hungary. Eastern Vikings traded with them and likely incorporated Magyar art motifs into their own objects. Birka was a city where Vikings from all over Europe traded and exchanged items like this fitting.
