Product description
This fibula is based on a 6th–7th century Germanic original now held in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. People across Europe wore fibulae like this between the 5th and 7th centuries — Germanic tribes including the Alamannic people and the Franks, as well as the Merovingians and the Anglo-Saxons. This fibula was excavated from an Alamannic female grave. These fibulae were presumably worn in pairs. It is enameled with red glass.
