Product description
This fibula is based on a 6th–7th century Germanic original, now part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Fibulae like this were worn all across Europe between the 5th and 7th centuries. Germanic tribes wore them — including the Alemannic people, the Franks, the Merovingians, and the Anglo-Saxons. This fibula was excavated from an Alemannic female grave. These fibulae were presumably worn in pairs. It is enameled with red glass.
