Product description
This broad-tipped shoe style was popular throughout the 16th century across all classes of society. People wore it in a wide variety of forms, and designers even copied the shape in armor from that era. Many could not afford new shoes and re-used the same pair over and over. Surviving examples at the Museum of London show how shoes were regularly repaired and resized. This style was worn during the age of Henry VIII of England, the Spanish Armada, the start of the 80 Years War in the Netherlands, by the German Landsknechts, and at the Battle of Pavia.
Made from 3 mm thick pig's leather with a hard leather sole.
