Bevors like this were developed in the second half of the 15th century. They protected the vulnerable neck and were usually worn with a sallet, kettle helmet, or — at the start of the 16th century — a burgonet. The sallet-bevor combination was the most common pairing, and both pieces could be attached to each other in various ways.
