Medieval shoes like these were worn across Europe from the second half of the 14th century through the 15th century. Ankle boots offer extra support to the foot and ankle, making them a very popular choice of footwear. By the 15th century, shoes had become extremely expensive — the average person could barely afford to buy new ones. Families mended their shoes and passed them down rather than replacing them.

These shoes are made from 2 mm thick cowhide. The soles are 5–6 mm thick and can be fitted with shoe nails.
