Product description

This amulet from Birka presumably depicts a völva, recognizable by the staff and a second object that the figure carries — though the image is also sometimes interpreted as a dancing warrior, such as the horned spear dancer. Both readings point to a ritual context within Viking culture that has its origins in Germanic and earlier Proto-Indo-European tradition.

Executed in bronze, with a height of approximately 3 cm.
