Product description

This incense bowl on a tripod is designed as a miniature table and was used in the lararium, the home altar of the Roman household gods. Incense and other pleasant scents ascended to heaven, the place where the gods lived—for they loved good smells and beautiful things, while beauty stood for cosmic order, and ugliness and stench stood for chaos. This example is decorated with lion head motifs on the tripod.

Performed in bronze, with a height of approx. 8.5 cm and a bowl diameter of approx. 6.5 cm.
