The chaperon is one of the most versatile headgear from the Middle Ages. What started as a simple hood with a short shoulder cape grew from the thirteenth century into a garment with a long, decorative lyre pipe. Around 1300 it was discovered that the opening originally intended for the face also fit perfectly around the head: this is how the chaperon was born, a unique way of wearing and tying the chaperon.

This caper is made of sturdy wool with a lining cotton and has a winch pipe of no less than 152 cm. The deep hood falls wide over the shoulders and thus provides extra warmth, while the long winch pipe can hang loose or be wrapped around the head as desired.

Wear the chaperon as a practical head covering or experiment with the classic chaperon style: one garment, two looks. Suitable for re-enactment, LARP and living history, in the colour black.
