Roman Pottery. What is Terra Sigillata?

Terra sigillata is Roman pottery with a red colour. Often, the surface is beautifully decorated with reliefs, such as the twelve of the zodiac or gladiators. Terra sigillata was used in almost every Roman household and was produced in large quantities. Yet, archaeologists consider it a Roman luxury product.

Roman Oil Lamp

The Romans created light by igniting oil with a wick in an earthenware oil lamp. In our collection, you can find various decorated Roman oil lamps. These are fully functional! You can fill them with a vegetable oil such as olive oil, place a wick, and light it. They are beautiful for home decoration or for reenactment.

Roman Pottery on the Table. Roman Bowl and Roman Cup

For Roman reenactment or home decoration, we have various Roman bowls and cups. Like a mortarium, which is a mixing bowl in which the Romans kneaded dough and mixed batter. With us, you can also find Roman jugs to pour wine or oil. The Romans used a balsamarium for storing perfume and pleasantly scented oil. Here, you can also find terra sigillata cups with relief, or with a smooth surface.
