Product description
At the beginning of the 15th century, kettle hats with a very large brim were created in Germany, which even included a visor. These helmets were often combined with a chain mail camail, collar or a steel freeze. This type of helmet sometimes resembled an early German sallet variant — the German sallet was developed from this. Helmets like these were mainly used in the Holy Roman Empire; the sloping edge reduces the impact of blows or projectiles on the helmet and head. This type of helmet was so effective that aristocrats also wore it.
This kettle hat is made from steel and provided with an inner lining. Suitable for re-enactment and HEMA, both half on the head for optimal field of view and pulled down over the eyes.
