Roman belt: cingulum, cintus, phalerae

The cingulum was the standard belt of Roman legionnaires. We have various cingulae based on original belts, such as the Tekjie cingulum found in Serbia. The cintus is a belt to which the pugio could be attached. Phalerae were medals that a centurion received for impressive achievements. The centurion wore the phalerae around the body.

Celtic belts
